I´m a composer and guitarist, I develop a personal musical language as a composer and performer.
I perform with 10 and 6 string guitars. I discovered the 10 string guitar through Egberto Gismonti.
I find the 10 string guitar fascinating, most of all because, as a composer, it allows all the freedom
I need to create music.

mc performs on a self invented 9 string guitar. this unique instrument has inner mid range strings, rather than an extended bass or treble range. the extra strings lie between the 4th and 5th of a normally tuned 6 string. with this instrument, michael can create dissonances, harp like sounds, and pianistic runs, inaccessible to traditional guitarists, while retaining the beautiful qualities one normally hears from a well played guitar. I'm a german tenstring guitar artist and teacher. In cooperation with my guitar builder I designed a 10-String 30-Fret Instrument to have the option of playing piano works on strings and bring the instrument to the next level of sound. Also it's the combination of music, art, and nature that I try to fit together.

Alexander MacAllister, and am a Scot who is teaching and
performing in Oslo Norway. My particular interests have been the general
repertoire for voice and guitar, and solos of the Romantic period for
ten-string guitar. That means songs and solos by Mertz, Regondi, Paganini,
Berlioz, Weber and others. Also the 20th. century pieces by people like
Katchaturian, Respighi, Virgil Thompson and Terry Riley. In a word - there's
TOO MUCH good stuff, and it's all by really important people that you will
actually find in the music dictionaries! I hope to open a website and make
sheet music available. More as it happens.
With best regards
Alexander MacAllister, DipABRSM

Sergei deJonge@ http://dejongeguitars.com I have a BFA in classical guitar performance from York University, Toronto (1989). I've participated with the University of Toronto Guitar Orchestra (1985) under the direction of Leo Brower. My interest in the multi-string guitar was first sparked when I heard the Bach Lute Suites recordings of Narciso Yepes. Since then I have had the honor of meeting Narciso Yepes at the home of Eli Kassner (Toronto) in 1986. I was most fortunate to have a very personal discussion with the Maestro about his family, music, astronomy, recording and of course the multi-string guitar concept. He saw and played my 17 string during that meeting. A particular goal with the multi-string guitar is to focus my technique, tuning and fingering decisions on maximizing the incredible timbre this kind of instrument has to offer. I'm happy to be part of the First Ten String Guitar Society as a way of celebrating the instrument's development along with those who enjoy playing and listening to this unique kind of guitar.
